TRAD.ATTACK! takes inspiration from old archive recordings and from the music of today. Folk music is their starting point but not their boundary: they remain open in ears, mind and soul to different styles and new directions whilst maintaining their emotional roots-heart.

TRAD.ATTACK! is the shooting star of Estonian folk scene. Since their debut in 2014 the band received 13 Music Awards in Estonia including best folk band, best song, best video, best album.

At their first concert the band made a joke about having a master-plan – to play in every country in the world. Surprisingly this audacious master-plan has now been activated – Only 169 countries to go!

Sandra, Jalmar and Tōnu – three good friends and skilled Estonian musicians: Sandra plays Estonian bagpipe, jew’s harp, saxophone, Jalmar plays 12 strings acoustic guitar and Tōnu is the drummer and percussionist. Like all Estonians – they also sing.

Their first tune, “Kooreke” became a hit and was broadcast at many radio stations around the globe. Their most recent album ‘Shimmer Gold’ was released in 2017.

“Its music is punchy, rousing, soaring and disarmingly infectious” – London Jazz

“There was impressive European folk-rock and bagpipes by  Estonia’s Trad.Attack! , a trio who matched stomping percussion and 12-string guitar riffs against the multi-instrumental work and vocals of Sandra Vabarna. They succeeded by mixing subtlety with energy, slickly introducing samples of ancient Estonian folk recordings into the blend.” ★★★★ – The Guardian

“…album that’s about as near to perfection as is possible.” ★★★★★ – R2 Magazine

“Trad.Attack!, een vrolijk trio uit Estland dat de stemming er al snel in heeft…Vervormde stemmen, samples en dub-achtige effecten doen de rest. Feestelijk en toch niet vrij van avontuur, dit.” – Dagblad van het Noorden
